It was the game of a lifetime for Derrick Williams in 2011, finishing 11-for-17 from the field and going 5-for-6 from beyond the arc. The Wildcats stunned defending national champ Duke Blue Devils and entered the national quarterfinals. That was a game Samantha with never forget! Samantha is a dedicated basketball enthusiast. Born and raised in Tucson, AZ. Graduating from the University of Arizona with a B.A. in Psychology (and a minor in Men’s Basketball), Samantha concedes she has never missed a Wildcat’s basketball game. She doesn’t complain about the PAC 12 tournament being held in Vegas every year. As college life slowly faded in the rear-view mirror, Samantha received an internship with Divorce Recovery of Tucson Arizona where she served as a counselor for kids coping with divorced parents.
After graduation, she said goodbye to the heat and made her way up the West Coast. Leadership skills rivaling Honest Abe’s, a bubbly personality and a strong ability to innovate landed Samantha a position with ROC-San Diego. In 2013, Samantha caught a gnarly wave taking her all the way to Houston TX, where she helped her sister and brother-in-law launch their new surf inspired workout, Surfset Texas. As much as she loved teaching Texans how to surf in a studio, she missed riding the real waves of the Pacific so she picked up her board and swam back to the coast. She rejoined the ROC team and is now working at ROC-La Jolla. Samantha is excited for this new chapter in her life and looks forward to the next company basketball tournament. Bear Down Wildcats!
High school teachers are renowned for being strict disciplinarians, impatient educators and tattle-tales. Cheating will land you in the hot seat with bathroom privileges reduced, and lunchtime fun will be spent hovering over yesterday’s homework. Successfully completing her liberal studies degree from Sonoma State, Angelica brings to ROC the efficiency of a Kendal-Jackson production line.
Prior to joining ROC, Angelica was a high school math, biology and chemistry teacher. Maintaining the attention of cross-eyed, Adderall-driven 17 year olds is no easy task. But with a stern fist and quick slap of her ruler Angelica churned out Einsteins like Model-T’s out of a Henry Ford factory. Angelica enjoys a good game of pick-up basketball, but watch out for high-flying elbows and deadly three-pointers. ROC is excited to have Angelica on board as her competitive nature and good-hearted team spirit produce great comradery between staff and clientele, alike.
From an early age, Lexi had a smile on her face, lots of curly hair and a sweet disposition. While the hair has since been tamed, her welcoming smile and kind personality remain the same. She was born and raised in Pasadena and went to an all-girls Catholic high school (not nearly as terrifying as they make it sound—actually an amazing experience), before attending California State University, Chico. Having a passion for helping others, she majored in Child Development, then went on to nanny for Los Angeles-based families before making a career switch to accounting on an HBO show.
While she’s thankful for all her adventures and lesson she’s learned along the way both professionally and personally, Lexi’s heart has always been in San Diego. So in 2014 she took a leap, packing up her car and moving down to Encinitas with two of her best friends! She is so thankful to be settled in her favorite city and a part of the wonderful La Jolla ROC family. She’s excited for this new chapter in her life and eager to continue to learn and grow from her peers at ROC!
Although she was born in Idaho and spent her early years in Washington State, Hannah is a Southern California girl through and through; enjoying the beach, desert and mountains and everything in between. South Orange County is where she spent her school days, dividing her time between her studies, friends, family, and blocking and hitting the heck out of the volleyball on her high school team.
It was also during this time that Hannah discovered a passion for working with children, which prompted her to obtain her early childhood education credits and spend the next two years leading (and chasing) preschoolers at two prominent Montessori Schools.
In 2014, she traded the OC lifestyle for the SD lifestyle, following her best friend here to explore all that San Diego has to offer, which works well with her other passion: photography. Hannah loves exploring her new home town and has the pictures to prove it!
Hannah’s friendly smile, warm demeanor and eagerness to learn and help others fits in well with the ROC family. She is thankful for the opportunity to live and work in the San Diego area and looks forward growing personally and professionally with ROC.
